I've read it can cause issues, is this true or not? And would a marinepure block be better or worse than some pond matrix

Check the MSDS from marine pure, brightwell, and matrix. They’re all made from amorphous aluminum silicate. Aka pumice stone. Issues? There’s enough evidence out there showing that elevated aluminum levels appear to be fairly benign
I’m not sure this is accurate. Elevated means a lot of things. Randy has looked into this showing that at certain point his corals were not so happy with “elevated” aluminum.
Chemistry And The Aquarium: Aluminum In The Reef Aquarium
In this article I will give some details of aluminum in natural seawater, and will discuss the sparse literature on the toxicity of aluminum ions to marine organisms.www.advancedaquarist.com
I’m familiar with the article. I’ve also seen enough evidence in person to the contrary in tanks testing at 50x they recommend limit of aluminum. While is is an authority figure in the hobby, one cannot ignore contradicting evidence.
I
Don’t think there’s a recommended or safe limit but based on the knowledge we have it acts as a toxin to corals.
