So I am about to re-do my sump and would like some opinions on the 2, Marinepure 8x8x1 plate vs. Brightwell Aquatices Xport BIO 9x8x1.5 Plate. I know some people have seen the Marinepure leaching Al. but has it been proven that it can/will poison the tank? I don't know.

So has anyone used or even seen the Brightwell one? I found it on Marine Depot and don't know enough much about it. http://www.marinedepot.com/Brightwe...ia-Brightwell_Aquatics-BW01680-FIFMBO-vi.html

I am removing the bio balls and plastic hay from my wet/dry filter to accommodate a new skimmer and was thinking about putting one of these in to replace them.

Good idea or? Would love any discussion on either of the above so I can make an informed purchase.

Thanks

Can't speak to the Brightwell product but I highly recommend the Marine pure. I suggest using the sphere's.
I made racks for mine out of egg crate, the sphere's will give you better water flow & they make cleaning easy. Just pull out each rack and shake it in your waste water.

Pretty sure the Brightwell product just came out so I don't think anyone has any experience with it. Looks to be the same kind of product as the Marinepure to me.

I have a Marinepure 8x8x4 block in my sump, very happy with it and works as advertised. I did test high for Aluminum on a Triton test but its not affecting livestock in any way that I can see. If you have any Leather corals in particular you may want to pass on it. They seem to be sensitive to the Al

Well right now my tank is just a FOWLR so it wouldn't be a problem. I just wondered if the Brightwell product suffers from the same problem.
