Hi all

First post here, joined the site due to more comprehensive chat regarding ICP test results and I wondered if a few of you would pass your eye over my test results. I am a little confused as to the source of some of these results but by all accounts I am not alone.

I run Red Sea 4 part additives, a calcium reactor and NoPox (relatively recently changed from a nitrate reactor). I am from the UK so a slightly different market.

Any comments appreciated.

Oh I am aware that phosphates are high, these are coming down nicely and now at 0.06 and dropping.

Thanks both. Yeah I have already cut back on the iron dosing. The Zinc I will investigate, thanks for the link.

What about the Ba?

I wouldn't worry about that level of barium, which is not especially unusual. Barium is not especially toxic. I suspect it just mostly just gets into calcium carbonate and related minerals in place of some calcium, just like strontium does.

There is a series of similar chemicals of increasing diameter, from magnesium to calcium to strontium to barium. The barium is so low in concentration to these others that I don't see a problem.

So the only zinc that I need to keep an eye on. I think I read an article by you Randy that refers to methods of removing heavy metals by an appropriate refugium. I have just purchased a Kessil H380 to light my fuge as the previous light was doing nothing. I can visibly see the growth in days with this new light. Question is, do you feel this may help reduce the heavy metals?

There are some medias that remove some heavy metals.. Poly-filters,
Seachem Laboratories CupriSorb and Two little fishies MetaSorb UHC.

Brill will loot into them. I also hear Triton AL99? Likely hood of them raising AL?

None of them are minerals (so no aluminum), except Al99, which I do not know if it binds zinc and wouldn't use it for that purpose.

This is the first time I heard of Al99 is that just like phosguard but pellets??

I'm not sure what shapes the particles are, but yes, it is aluminum oxide. :)
