hey not sure if this or the predatory fish forum is the right place to post but oh well. has anyone kept a maroon with a dwarf lionfish? if so, howd it go?

I would also say that the tank needs to be big enough for the lion to get away from her territory. i love Maroon Clowns and have a pair in my 150, but they aren't going to stand for things being in their territory that they don't want there and a female can easily harass a lion to death if they can't move away. Otherwise, as long as the lion can't eat the maroon you should have no issues. good luck!

Mine are in a patch of bubble tips, but id say 12" x 12" is pretty safe. Most fish swim in and out with no problems, but my female absolutely hates my melanarus wrasse and keeps him far away. i don't see she would care at all about a dwarf lion as long as he can move out of her way.

oh great! theres enough space for that. does aggression levels change within the different types?

Of clowns? Definitely. Maroons are probably the most aggressive, following by Tomato, and Clarkii complex. Skunks and probably on the low end with everyone else in between.

and are there differences between the different patterns and variants of each? is a lightning maroon more aggressive than a regular maroon for example?

White highlight maroon clowns are more aggressive than Yellow highlight maroon. The pattern is not going to make any different.
