Hello ,

We have been having our maroon clownfish laying eggs. Very regularly. We collect all the fry. Transfer them to a growout tank using patent water. Load the tank up with s rotifers.

I should mention our growout tanks are 29 gallon tank filled about 1/2 way.

we don’t have much luck after day 3. We put rotifers in 2 times a day. ( I think we should add more but our work schedule doesn’t allow it currently. )

We have read bbs can be used. But I read there are plus and minus’s with using them.

We are a huge fan of tdo. Wondering if anyone has a good feeding schedule to work with ?

debating on adding either L type rotifers and/or tdo around day 2.

Right now I’d be happy to have a full clutch make it past day 2.

I am no expert in this, but I would definitely try to feed more times during the day as your schedule allows. 1 question for you. What is your lighting setup for them? They need specific lighting for their ultimate success. They need very little light, just enough to see their food. Too much light could cause levels of stress to the fry, that could result in them passing away.

I haven't looked into Maroons too much yet, but from what I've heard, the survival rate is abysmal (0-6% from what I've seen) even in lab settings when just fed rotifers (though some of this is thought to be lighting related, like discusseda above). They may do better with small pods like Parvocalanus crassirostris, or with some sort of additional enrichment like Selcon to make the rotifers more nutritious, but I don't know for sure.

It was also estimated that they would need 500-1,000 rotifers per larvae per day for best, rotifer-fed survival rates.
