@Timfish i believe no one is picking on him if anything he is the bully of the corner I have 2 banggi cards and a red fire honestly feels like he is just hosting the corner he will come out occasionally I have a 33 long most of the fish stay away he is still a juve I’m more courious about the mouth moving constantly and he does not explore at allSounds like someone is picking on it and that's all the territory it has. More information on your system and tankmates would be helpful. Depending on variables you might wait to see what happens over tiime or be wise rehoming someone.

Very interesting points I’ll look into those and see if anything matches and just let it rideNot much to do about it hosting just one small spot if it's not being bullied by anybody. You might try hand feeding the system, hold a cube of frozen food until it completely melts. As far as it's mumbling, this is just a guess, but maybe some gill damage and it needs to move more water? It may also just be talking to itself. Fish do "talk" or make various grunts and clicks so it may also be saying to everyone "stay away". But these are just guesses.
Haha yeah he does take his shots when my hand goes in then returns to the cornerIt's probly mumbling "stick your hand in here and see what I do".
If he is the only maroon he is probably a she or will beHaha yeah he does take his shots when my hand goes in then returns to the corner
I had a pair for several years and really enjoyed them but the female was vicious. Nothing more fun than standing on a chair jerking like a spaz and trying not to fall because a little fish is attackingHaha I know how that feels! And yes only one in the tank and will stay that way and that’s interesting is there a way to determine when they make the change or is it pretty much on sizeIf he is the only maroon he is probably a she or will beI had a pair for several years and really enjoyed them but the female was vicious. I'm not sure exactly how to tell but they always turn female if kept alone. More than one and the most dominant becomes female. Females are always larger. My female was probably 4 inches or larger and the male a little bitty guy maybe an inch and a half. I ended up rehoming them after the female decided to keep rearranging thingsHaha I know how that feels!
