One of my clowns had spots like this. After a week or so noticed some fin deterioration. Added polyp labs bacterial medication for a few days and cleared right up and she looks great 2 months post treatment.

Not saying that’s what this is tho.

This is my lighting according to Fluval should I lower my white light
No no, he meant change the lighting to all whites, then take a pic of the clown. Then you can go back to your regular lighting setup. Whites make it easier to discern what the spots look like.

The issue isn't the blue lighting for the tank, just that it is more difficult for us to ID things under blue light. For that, natural white light is best.

That said, your clownfish has an unidentified syndrome where the tissue under the skin turns darker. You can only see this change under the white bands though.

Here is a thread I started about this issue:

No problem! Are the spots dark/black looking? That’s what the spots on my clown looked like and it was a bacterial infection.

Some people have had it and claim it was coral stinging as well. Is she being hosted by any corals or a nem?

Would be curious what these fish look like in reflective UV photos.

Jay, as I mentioned above, my clown had an issue very similar to the clowns in the photos in your thread. Black spots on the white bands. This led to her tail fin beginning to deteriorate. I thought it may be fin rot but the black spots didn’t track with that.

I dosed some light bacterial meds from PolypLabs and she was cured within a week and the fin repaired after another week or so. For your records haha.

Likely you used Polyp Labs MEDIC which is not a cure for bacterial and has claims for ich treatment but is merely Peroxide salts and rarely cures anything. It may be coincidental.
The issue is either stings from coral or anemone, skin irritation or bacterial and while Medic performed a miracle for you - It again is an ineffective form of treatment and for Jay's records- He runs a large public aquarium and has authored books on disease.
Ive seen these spots numerous times and has never led to fin and tail rot which would be bacterial.

Worked for me mate. Might not have been bacterial, but the contents of the MEDIC did clear up the issue. Was the only thing added to the tank and corresponded with the expected timeline stated on the bottle.

They are dark grey but definitely look like they could go black. She is not hosting and corals but she is in a tank with a hammer some green star polyps, jasmine daisy polyps, Kenya tree, blue mushroom and a rainbow Blastomussa.

No, it won’t have any ill effects (or didn’t in my experience). Just follow the instructions. However, I’d wait for others to comment after seeing it under white lights before taking any action.
