Looking at one of these 300w with the red diodes for a 15-20g fuge full of macro. I usually put fuge lgiths right on the tank to avoid spill... like an inch or two off of the water.

Questions:
1). These do not have dimmers... do they need one?
2). Does Dragons[breath, tongue] do as well as chaeto under these?

My apologies in advance if there is a big thread on this... search just produced a bunch of "I love it" and "best ever" from folks who had them less than a week so I stopped looking.

TIA

If I remember correctly this unit is simply on off. No dimmer. And I don't know that I'd mount it that close, 300 watts is a lot of power and would potentially melt any macro algae you put under it. Dragons breath, chaeto, and caulerpa all do great under these grow lights when acclimated to them.

Agreed. There are a bunch available cheaper same spectrum with dimmers and lower output. amazon etc.

Look in gardening.
I guess folks use em for some sort of indoor horticultural experiments.

Like any Chinese Marketing Garbage, the 300w is the model number... but probably meant to deceive... they are only about 130 watts of power +/- 10%.

I guess that nobody has actually used one of these that has commentary?

I've used one of their LED "bulbs" and like it , but I'm thinking about a UFO down the road.

No Crabs and I don’t own them. We just work with a lot of folks who do.

I've had great results with the flood light style grow lights. Looks like the chinese are all selling a newer model than I have but if you search ip67 grow led you'll find them. Good for a sump as I've had skimmer spray over everything. I don't think wattage is necessarily comparable to your main (contrary to what BRS says), b/c lights in the DT aren't putting out nearly the reds that grow lights do and often aren't as close to the macro algae as they would be (mine is sitting on top of a glass lid in the center sump chamber).
