Massive Aiptasia issue

Hey all. I went to Europe and when I came home my tank was all Aiptasia's. I'm not joking when I say that I counted 107 of them this morning, and it's only a 40g tank. Any tips on what to do? Should I buy like 20 peppermint shrimp?

Do you have any wrasses?
If no, the berghia or however you spell it... the nudibranch worm, is probably your best solution.
You do need to implant them near the aptasia colony tho, but they will keep it in check, and then nuke it eventually to the point of starvation when they are done.

I picked up an aquacultured green file fish from Biota. It takes care of the small ones really nicely, eats frozen food, and is very peaceful. I usually kill the bigger ones with kalk paste.

same! and that was after using nudibranch and all of it came back. however, he may have to go, as I see it nipping at my acro's, and that doesnt work for me.
What do I need to check for clean salt water?

Same here. Klein butterfly demolishes aiptasia but is also constantly picking at the acros

I used berghia the first time, and they died off once they ate all the aipastia. Then 4-6 weeks later had more aipastia. So then I tried peppermint shrimp. I got 3. No more aipastia. I feed the shrimp, so no issues.

File fish work VERY well for aiptasia, but do be aware they will likely eat coral as well.
I have personally used them in 2 of my 5 reefs and they are extremely effective and efficient.
With that being said, I lost $$ in LPS once they had eradicated the unwanted pests. They were more than happy to eat several cynarina, torches, and hammers.
Best of luck!

I've had excellent luck with a Copperband Butterfly
they're very hit and miss. Just like the peppermint shrimp. but if you can get one that works, HOORAY!!

Peppermints work for me but many sold are not the ones that eat aiptasia. CBB is what I use in my larger tank. The peppermints. are pretty colorful when they are adults. IME they don't try to rip food out of corals anywhere near as bad as my cleaner shrimp did. My peppermints ussualy hide most of the time when lights are on. One of mine

Is there any risk of poison in the aquarium if the berghia dies?

Which of the options is the most effective because the aphasia releases more aphasias while it is in danger?Who of you has tried and can say how it solved the problem completely?
