Mat forming Cyanobacteria in Fish Only Tank

Hi

I´m not a FO aquarist but in one of the threads around reef aquaria and mat forming benthic cyanobacteria - I catch up this article It could be a game changer in order to control these organisms in FO tanks. If these habits exist among certain tangs and angels in the Caribbean - i would not be surprised if it exist among certain fishes from the pacific too- Are there anyone out there that have a feeling that this problem is not so common when holding certain fishes in a FO?

While I am sure there are some fish that eat it. My thought process goes back to my own experience and that of others I have observed. Most of the time that people seem to get nuisance algae in their reef tank, it seems to grow so fast that even if they have fish and or inverts that eat it, it grows faster then those animals can eat it.

I had a fowler tank before, and i had matting cyano too. The only fish that picked at it was my foxface, and he died. I think from the toxicity. I had the mats for a long time and he ate at them for a long time. I obviously can not prove that he died from that. I am sure there must be other fish that would eat it though. The ocean seems to be a very balanced system. There is some critter to eat everything in it.
