Matching Equipment Stand for Red Sea Reefer

I'm looking to build or modify an existing stand to match my red sea reefer 450 to hold all of my equipment. Any advice appreciated!

I think the toughest part is going to be finding the right exterior material to match the outside of the red sea stand. I would focus on finding that and get enough to do a veneer or shell around a wood frame to keep things simple.

I started out with a cabinet from amazon. I didn't like it much and it was a pain to pull cables in and out of.

Hey Water! Apex controller. Hope to keep als much electrical equipment out of the tank stand as possible

Although not the referenced Petco Imagitarium cabinet the concept is the same. This is where a drill, a pocket jig and some wood glue really come in handy. I used 3/4 inch plywood to make a controller board that inserts inside of my Amazon glass door cabinet. I painted the controller board with gloss acrylic paint. Hope this helps!

That's awesome! So how does the board attach to the cabinet? Also is the board mounted to the back of the cabinet or is there a space?

Oh I see it's mounted to another piece of plywood so it's free standing. That gives you the space behind. Is it a nail straight through those triangular pieces?

Yes, the control board is freestanding and slips right into the cabinet. I used a pocket jig to join the two boards together with screws along with a healthy bead of wood glue between the joint. The 4 triangle pieces are just glued on for additional support. The space behind the board is where I mounted power bricks and such.

I took an Ikea cabinet and did this to it. It’s Dark brown.. but so dark it’s practically black.
