Mated clowns actually mating!

I'll chime in later as I am heading out for the day on my Harley.

It is a tad involved to breed, but also a rewarding experience.

Sorry, it took so long to get back on this.

Versus writing a novella on the subject I would like to present a decent article which will touch on the main aspects from a clutch to a fry and how to best achieve success. I do a simpler version of havig a small tank ready and cultures ready.

Also a few pics of setups I use for the various cultures and tank to raise the fry in. (note, I keep a small PH in the tank until the 8th day for airing/fanning of the eggs the male would generally do. I then take it out so the fry is not sucked in and beaten to death.

when i only had freshwater tanks i had a breeding pair of german blue rams. i heard they breed very similarly to clowns. they bred like 6 times but all of the fry died once they were free swimming. the other fish probably ate them, as i didnt have a breeding tank.

What other fish do you have in the tank?

Any other fish will devour those eggs like me at a breakfast at Bob Evans.

So to breed, they must be the ONLY TWO in the tank

They are the only fish in the 40b. They actually spawned again today, and I got to see them lay and fertilize eggs. It was pretty neat.

I am not set up for this clutch either, but I would love to try one day.

Thank you all for the info. I’m going to save this and maybe try this winter!
