I bought 2 mated black oscillator clown fish. they used to hang out together all the time. but just the last 24 to 48 hours. I have noticed that 1 is hiding behind the rocks at one end of the tank and the other hides behind the rocks at the other end of the tank.

60 g tank.
temp 78
ph 7.8
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 2
haven't tested my ca, mg, alk, phosphorus since last Monday.

I haven't noticed any mating at all. no signs of ich, velvet, piscicolidae worm, no parasites, or brooklynn.

also I haven't seen any mating signs. any idea on whats going on with them?

How long have you had them? What else is in the tank with them? Breathing heavy?

I have a mini carpet ennama, longnose hawk fish and a neon tail spot wrasse. also a green chromus but that is in a separate tank for the past 6 days. no heavy breathing. there not rubbing against the rocks. I have had them since the beginning of april. no loss of appetite either.

Some times mine would separate for a day. Why, not sure. Then back together. Strange.

I did have 1 green chromus that I found dead 2 weeks ago with a red soar (Uronenma marinum) and I had that in qt. I was treating it with acriflavine. I had a distance of 20 feet between my qt and DT tank. no red soars on the clowns. I did have a neon dotty back that died in my DT. no appetite. heavy breathing. but no red soars on it.

I'm thinking about treating them with a bacteria soak for 90 minutes then put them in the QT tank for 48 hours. see if theres any improvement. if not then i'm considering dipping them with Kordon Ich of no sign of improvement at that point.

I did make a change to my tank. I added a second circulation fan to my tank. 1 pointing to the top for a wave effect and kept one in the same spot that its been in since I started the tank. maybe I have to much current in the tank. and it stressed them out.
