Given all the complaints about aluminum leaching from the marinepure media, I opted for seachem matrix in bags in my sump for my build. Seems like it accomplishes the goal and it's a natural stone that shouldn't break down.

Thanks guys, still debating it. Brightwell usually only makes quality products but I guess the Seachem products have been around forever... Really curious what the advantage of the Brightwell product is here.

I have a mix of 3 liters of Seachem matrix and 3 liters of Seachem denitrate in my sump (low flow area) for about 6 months now. Between that, my skimmer, and 5 ml of NoPox daily, my nitrates stay below 5 ppm in my RSR 525 XL. I have 7 nems, 22 fish and a clam.

I feed well and a lot of waste is produced and processed.

I also use 1 cloth filter sock and 1 mesh.

I thought pumice was aluminum silicate. Anyone use Matrix and do ICP testing?

Hmmm hopefully it’s not a form of silicate that can fuel diatoms
