Maxi Jet 1200- is there grease inside this thing?

Hi-

I bought a MaxiJet 1200 in July 2021. I've used it exclusively for mixing salt in the brute, and transferring water to mt tank or ato. It gets rinsed with water after all uses.

Today, when I went to change the configuration from salt water mixing to salt water transfer, I noticed the propeller was hard to get out. In fact, it actually came apart leaving the black shaft engagement cap inside the main pump. I got the black cap out with tweezers only to see what looks and feels like grease inside the main pump haft hole.

1. Does the inside of the MJ pump have grease in it?
2. This pump was in my new salt mix that I was going to use today? Don't use that mix? Or is the grease a "food safe" grease?

Note: I cleaned the shaft hole out with Qtips....placed the water transfer propeller and connector on...then tested the pump to see if the water flows...it did.

Silicone grease if often food safe, but not sure I want to put it in my aquarium anyway.

Probably just some silicone grease. Probably there to make sure that cap keeps spinning and doesn't seize up in the housing.
