Maxima Clam Care

I meet all those conditions except nitrates can be 10-15 with 100:1 NP ratio with no ill effect. I might slowly add NP Bactobalance over a few months to see if this can be steered a bit lower.

Great info here today.

Honestly, all you need is a cheap wooded air stone driven skimmer to provide oxygen. You might want to check out Marine Depot's liquidation sale, there may be something there you can afford?
Or you can try to grow some macro algae with reverse light cycle?

Morning everybody! Clam is attaching nicely.
just tested my water as my lights JUST turned out roughly 30 minutes ago. Alkalinity is 7.7 and pH is 7.6-7.8
Is this low pH normal for the morning? Let me emphasize early morning.
I would suggest to do ph test in the mid-day, not in the morning, and test at the same time of the day every time. The ph fluctuates with day/night cycle, so you will always get different readings.

It all sounds good so far, if it attached that fast it means its happy, just let it be happy. good luck

Buy some F aiptasia and seal it in. You can take the clam out and put it in a small dish with water and treat there. Don’t panic.
Alright. I’ll do that as soon as I get my hands on it. Thank you. I’m just worried that I’m disturbing my clam.

Candy Corals. They’re a great company and probably didn’t even see it on the shell. It’s so small!!!! It just popped up and is Teeny tiny
yeah Candy Corals is my best spot too, its a really good store, I've looked at those clams many times... Good luck!

Have you been there in person? It's so much bigger than I thought and really well kept. All of their tanks are PACKED with amazing corals

Ive seen their clams and they all look very healthy.

Nope. Never been, only heard and experienced good things. Looking to go soon

That helped so much. Thank you
While a great article, some husbandry has changed. Notice , this article written in 2010

true, but there’s some valid info there that helped me a lot of understanding their care.
As stated, good article and some aspects have changed but pretty much sums it

I see no new growth in that second picture. Was that when you first got it?
