What would be considered the upper limit for temperature of an invert only qt holding system? Considering these guys live in tide pools. I have a 180 gallon holding system set up for qt, but no chiller installed on it. Would a spike to 88F be acceptable provided oxygen was sufficient? I intentionally placed this system outside in hopes to grow some serious algae.

88 is too high for inverts. Most of the creatures we keep can handle occasional temp spikes up to 86. Even at that temp, I have experienced shrimp and snails dying, likely due to a toxic mix of chemistry, metabolic and oxygen imbalances. Install a shade over the top, fan and ATO on your system to keep it below 84, if you want to avoid die off.
