hi everyone,
a few months ago i converted my 3 Jebao WP25'S to 1 maxspec gyre 150. My tank is 120-gal (2x4 footprint) mixed reef. after playing with the gyre for about a week i decided on setting it 60% (pulse mode). at about 2 weeks i felt like i didn't have enough flow and appeared to have some deadspots, so i added one the Jebao WP25s back into the tank (opposite side of the Gyre 150). This past week, i found a steal on the gyre 130 and bought it. i have the 130 taking a vinegar bath right now as we speak.

the question i have is,.... if i replace the Jebao WP25 with the gyre 130, will that be WAY TOO MUCH flow?

I think it would be a perfect set up, I plan on doing the same thing on my 75 build. gyre on each side set on pulse . try to plug them in at different times ...meaning plug one side in when the pump stops on the other side . I n the event of a power outage you may have to reset it , but no big deal. as far as too much flow , dial them down . that's the beauty of a controllable pump.

I am running two 130's at both ends of my 72gal with a mp40 in the middle about 2/3 down. the gyre's are both at 60%.

I set up the 130 last night and removed the jebao. it was late when i made the switch so i didnt have time to mess with the settings. they are both setup on pulse mode, but i need to fool with the settings tonight. that 130 can really push some water. i reviewed the video on BRS and will try to sync them up so they are alternating.

I'm switching from my Gyre XF-130 to 2 Jebao RW-4's. Not looking back either!
Been running the Gyre on my 40B for a year. Hate it! Worst investment equipment wise in 7yrs, for my tank that is. Absolutely no way to direct the flow where it's needed or not needed. Which is exactly what my tank needs.
It's powerful for sure. It's flow pattern is one way only. It's advertised as eliminating the potential for dead spots. So not true! Totally dependent on your rock and coral placement.
Sorry but this pump is not for everyone. JMO

I have the 150 on my 120 and I deft had dead spots. I also hate that it just pulls corals on the sand bed towards the gyre. I added two rw8s and now I have great flow for sps. Wish I got 2 mp40s from the beginning.

Looking pretty nice. I run barebottom so that might be better for gyres.

I'm running a XF130 on my 68 and I love it. It's pushing right to left @ 60% and I have 2 MP-10s pushing back to front @ 60%. I'm getting good random flow. My return pump is a DCT4000 so I'm getting good flow from it as well. You have to work with the XF30/150 to get it how you want the flow. I also updated my XF130 with the new 4 blades and bearings. Getting better flow and it's very quite. JME

Interesting the reviews on the gyre, now after some time and people using them for a while.

I was a few days from buying one. I'll have to see what others say.

I've had my xf130 for about 2 months. Absolutely no issues so far and mine is whisper quiet.

i like the gyre's so far. i especially like the low profile designs. I installed the 130 opposite of my 150 and i like the flow so far. we will see how the corals respond. The 130 is a little noisier than the 150, but they are both very quiet. I agree with NanoReefer on the dead spots, but believe that the deadspots are a result of my rock work.
