I’m setting up a 210 (72” long) tank and am looking for thoughts or opinions on the maxspect gyre pumps. I’m planning on running 2 of them. Having never seen them operating “in person” , I am unsure what size to go with, 250 or 280. Would the 250’s be enough or should I go with the big boys?

Well, I assume your tank is wide enough for the 280?

I have a pair of 250's in my 5' tank and I only run them on 40-50%. I could certainly run them higher if I wanted, but Id have issues with the water getting pushed out of the tank. I would go with the 280s if you can swing them and run them on a lower setting, as the gyres can be noisy if run at full speed.

Had 3 of them but now am down to one and I will replace it with something else when it inevitably needs repair. While when working correctly they do a nice job (at considerable expense), they require way too much maintenance and too many replacement parts. Maxspect has done a great job of contributing to Coralvue's parts departments bottom line while subtracting from mine so in an effort to keep more of my own money have switched to other options.

Nobody else is running either of these? Might have to re-evaluate. I’ve used Ecotech in the past and they weren’t bullet proof either
