So I just won a drawing for one of the new Maxspect fx-150 and I am very excited. Does anyone have any recommendations or heads up? Is it to much for a 30 gallon? Which is what I have now. I plan to upgrade in the next few months to a 60+

Thanks

I would say way too much for a 30 gal and probably too much for a 60 gallon...these are used on as much as 240 gallon tanks and are splashing water over the sides....smaller versions are coming out in 2015... They are adjustable but I wouldn't suggest it even at the lowest setting for a 30 gallon.

I'm waiting on the smaller model for my 75...
Most I hear running on 75's are running them low on power, like 40-50%. Which you can do, just seems like too much hardware for the tank.

They are actually perfect for a 60 (I am running one at 10%) but definitely way too much for a 30.
Doesn't running something at 10 % of its potential seem like a waste though.....

Since this is a raffle prize I would def. follow your suggestions on using it on the 60 gal only.

Depends on how you look at it. Based on early reviews, when running them at higher power they put off a lot more noise ( I can't verify how much louder...I am going off of other people's opinions). I was originally going to wait for the smaller model until I started reading reviews. I decided on going with the mid size which allows me more flexibility to run it at its' lowest setting (and quieter) or increase for as much flow as I will ever need....whether it be in this tank or a future, larger tank.
