What is the lowest possible setting to keep the rotor spinning? Is it by default 10%, or can it go lower?

tank info: 100g 48x24x20 tank 15mm glass, mixed reef slowly converting to sps

i had an icecap 3k and 3 mp40s in the tank all below 50% in various randomized flow patterns

i just installed 2 gyre 350s on opposing sides in horizontal configurations. first off, alot of people are concerned with sound, these things are whisper quiet, infact, i dare say quieter than the vortechs....the icecap is the loudest of them all even after cleaning

as far as power, i should have gone with the 330s..... my reasoning was using less power will be quieter and less taxing on the pump. the pumps default to 50% when you start them up and nearly blew my rocks over, i had waves crashing hahah, i quickly put it in manual mode at 10% and currently keep it at min 10% and max 30% random on each pump. when it hits 30% the only thing i heard is water moving. you can keep these very close to the surface of the water with the flow directors but it will cause splashing due to the force, i moved mine about 1.5" below the surface to minimize splashing.

i have my vortechs cleaned and boxed up for now, ill update this when i have to do my first maintenance which i think will be the only negative compared to vortechs.

I get a significant amount of water moving with my single 330 at 60% in my 3ft 75g.

I was tinkering with the settings on our tank as it cycles. The water movement of the gyre xf330 is amazing on my 4ft Waterbox. I got a great deal on a XF350 which I’m going to put on the other side for opposing flow. The xf330 at 60% on C has moved all the sand in the opposing side leaving a nice little bald spot. I can only imagine what’s going to happen when I add the 350. I’m curious how many folks use the Icv6 controller? Can you dial in the flow controls better? Ultimately is it worth it?

After 13 months of owning the 330s I'd say don't waste your money.....They stink! I have a 4ft long tank. One pump (A) runs at 20% and the other (B) has to run at 80% in order for the flows to meet in the middle otherwise the 20% pump overpowers the other one and pushes it back so it might as well not even be there. I cleaned it, changed parts adjusted the direction with nothing. Then I went on a theory and swapped wires so pump A became pump B and pump B was now A. The controller box must have a short in it because the opposite happened. A has to run at 80% to equal B at 20% now. And wouldn't you know it.....I bought them in April of 2019 my one year is up!
I also noticed that the pulse mode would pulse for a few cycles then the pumps would shut off, it physically says off on the controller, then it restarts and trys again for a few cycles before shutting down again. It never stops doing that either until you take it off pulse and put it into a different setting.
Last complaint is my good old 230s I had for 3 years finally died so I had to move the 330s to the back wall vertically and the flow has been cut in half again. They don't seem to want to spun like they used when they aren't horizontal. It's pretty bad when I have an innovative marine powerhead pushing more water and creating more flow then a $450 controllable system.

My xf330 is mounted horizontally on the end of my tank and is a beast of a pump. I think if after 13 months something happens like the above poster then I would probably just move to tunze pumps. No complaints at this time about 4 months old.

I have a 71g display with two VorTech MP40s. It is an SPS-only, bare-bottom, system with a minimal bonsai structure. I have been eyeing these pumps lately, so I am excited to see your video!

Don't mind the explosion of diatoms, but you can see how open my display is. I won't be adding additional corals, so now I want to focus on flow. I have the MP40s on ansi-sync Lagoon mode, with a maximum of 75%. Do you think that adding a Maxspect Gyre XF330 or XF350 would be overkill? I realize that they can be turned down, so that's helpful. I want to make the flow more randomized and not only blow from the back to the front.

My opinion/experience with Maxspect Gyres and CoralVue.

I purchased 5 of these pumps (with three separate controllers).

Every single pump has had issues with clogging (sometimes within days of being given an acid bath)

Two of the controllers have lost power to one of the two pumps they are supposed to control. Even if you contact them within warranty, they will not help you with an ongoing issue the persists beyond the warranty period and expect you to pay for shipping, etc. etc.

The bushings they supply are very low grade and VERY QUICKLY build up and clog. This then causes the rubber boots to wear down because the bushings just spin inside the rubber boots. This effectively makes it so that the rubber boots are the new "bushings", and you can imagine how fast they wear down.

The customer service at this place (CoralVue is their umbrella company name) is absolutely trash.

There are very few companies that I flat out refuse to every buy anything from every again in my life, but this is CLEARLY one of them.

I have already wasted countless hours cleaning, replacing, fixing, etc these pumps, so please don't ask me to waste any more of my life posting pictures. I have looked at these gyres from all aspects (mechanically, chemically, and many other possibilities) that I could think of, and the only conclusion is that THEY ARE TRASH!!! DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR MONEY!!!
