I bought a Maxspect Gyre FX250 and an Icecap control module for the 0-10V Apex control. That was the biggest one that could use 0-10V. I needed to trigger the timing cycle externally via the Apex. I bought the interface because that was a feature that the regular controller could not address.

I finally got it working the way that I wanted, with lots of help from Neptune and like it a lot. Now I want to buy another one for the other side of the tank but that model is retired.

Does anyone know why it was shut down? I could simply buy an FX230 and an Icecap FX130/230 interface module to go with it but I don't know if FX250 was discontinued because of some flaw in the design that may be shared in the FX230. On the other hand, they may have stop making it for marketing reasons only.

If so I will go ahead and by a FX230 set up. Does anyone have some feedback?

Have you tried talking (emailing) directly to Maxspect? Why trust the potential of rumors or hearsay from out here? Tell Maxspect customer service what you are trying to do and why, they should be willing to help.

it was shutdown because they came out with 300 series line. just as the 200 series replaced the 100 series. so no defect, just improvements.

yep, all discontinued for the fact the 300 series is out now. They will still sell parts for the 200 series. I would email Carlos at Coralvue and ask him.

Thank you for your response. He's a great guy and has helped me before but I wrote Carlos yesterday asking what was the biggest Gyre and 0-10V Icecap combination that was still available. We just didn't understand each other so after 7 tries I called BRS and got a short and straight answer.

I guess that he wouldn't specify what to get because the entire 200 line has gone out of production. So there is stock available but no more is being produced by the company.
