Was wondering if anyone is using this & how well they like it or don't like it & if it really does work.

Thanks

I bought the Gyre a year ago and was impressed with the flow in my 180 pennisula, but noted that some of the corals were growing with the flow. Since all of my controllers are through a wall, it was a pain to run back and forth to turn things on and off. I picked up the IceCap module for my Apex late summer/ early fall of last year and once I got over the Apex programming (not hard, especially if you watch CoralVue's videos) I really liked the controllability that the interface module gave me. Not only that, but I was now able to control the Gyre from my phone (which is a huge plus in my situation). I never liked the standard control module for the gyre - it never felt intuative to me. I would suggest watching the coralvue videos through a few times before starting to set up your module, especially if you havent messed with virtual outlets before on your Apex. Also, I recommend buying the splitter cable so you can program forward and reverse on the module (its a little irritating to have to buy yet another component, but its worth getting it all at the same time). If you like being able to run everything through your Apex, I recommend it. I appreciate the convenience and controllability that the module gives me.

I have two of them on my tank. They work perfect and allow a nice degree of control on the pumps. I was able to get them up and running with my apex pretty easily.

I have it hooked up to my Maxspect Gyre 150 and my Apex.

Following CoralVue's videos was pretty easy and I did get it set up. It does let you control the speed, do custom ramp schedules, etc. with the Gyre. I had it running well for a few weeks with the included cable.

With the add-on cable, you are supposed to be able to program it do operate in the Alternating Gyre mode, but that is what I have been unable to do. My issue is that it refuses to actually spin in reverse during that cycle. I am currently working with their tech support to try to narrow down the problem.

So, to control it with Apex in standard modes, yes it works well. For Alternating Gyre mode with the add-on cable, that is yet to be determined because it is not yet working for me.

Well said. Get the extra cable and watch the CoralVue videos. I have not had any issues getting it to work in alternating Gyre mode.

Thanks everyone for your reply. I have bought the first one & have it going!! I only wish they would have made them so you only need one, instead of one per Gyre. Oh well!

Hey, would you be willing to share you programming with me. I for some reason cannot get them to sync and anti sync. I've watched the videos a million time and can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

Hi MillerR, I don't have mine setup that way, I just have them running as single pumps through my Apex. Sorry for no help!
