I'm looking at starting up a new 60g cube reef tank and I can't decide whether I want to go with 2 Maxspect Gyres or 2 mp10s. Anyone have any experience with running the gyre pumps on a cube?

First; welcome to R2R! Glad you found us.

I've got a 230 Gyre in my frag tank, which is 24x24x12 (about 30gal). I only run it on 100% a few minutes every day to clean out detritus, so it's got power to spare. Still; to get a good, strong, cyclical flow through a 60gal, you'd likely want 2 of the 230's.
Two of the MP10s would fit nicely as well (I think this is close to the setup that the BRS tank trials uses?). You'd only get single-directional flow with those (as opposed to by-directional with the gyres), but that's not really a problem as you'd have two and could create a gyre easily enough with that.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I am liking the idea of the maxspect more and more tbh. The tank is going to go into a corner and if I put the gyres perpendicular to each other it should create some really varied flow in the tank.
