Maxspect Gyre question

I have the older xf150 upgraded with ruggerized props - running two of those on my 60 cube at 50% constant. But this is an sps tank, would be a lot for lps, but would be fine on low settings.

No, I have 2x xf230 plus 2x mp40. 2x gyre barely do anything in my 4ft tank.

I didn't realize the 230 is the newer version of the 130 ~2,000 gph. You will be totally fine! I was thinking it was the new version of the 150 which is 5,000 gph.

I have 1 3k icecap gyre. Less than a full day it made a mound. I run it at 30% now.

P.s. my tank is 3' wide, 58 gallons.

I recently upgraded from a 150 to 230. I have a 5x2x2 and it easily sends flow all the way across the tank (and back). I have it set at 60%. I also have a 2x Mp40's to help create random/crazy flow.

Thanks everyone! Frop I had the same issue originally. Reason I asked about 2 is, I have been running on O.G.C. at 40%.
Corals (LPS) only swaying 1 way.....read that this is not the best, should be back and forth.

This is the reason I have mp40's with it. I also have not played around with the 'random' setting on the 230.
This is also the reason you see folks running two gyres, one on either side of the tank.

I have a sea swirl on my return/over flow side of my peninsula tank and an xf250 on the opposite end. Tank is 48" long and get great flow with this set up. The Gyre is set at the build up setting and maxes out at 50%. I have had it run at random to max out at 70%, but have recently decided to go soft in this tank so lower settings for me.

The gyre can reverse flow. Is that helpful? Honestly idk much on the directional thing. I had 1 pump on my nano that was always on at one speed in the same direction until I upgraded.

I have my gyre set 1hr 30% forward and 10min 10% on reverse. I can't turn it up more on reverse or I'd get a hole in the sand.

The reverse gyre I found about useless with any coral that loves/needs good flow. The reverse gyre doesn't get anywhere near the far side of the tank even turned up...

Did you swap rotors for reverse?

A large problem people have with reverse on the gyre is they didn't swap propellers - it says in the manual it is required for reverse mode. This means really only half the gyre is working at one time (as one side is going forward and one in reverse so to speak) but it does work well if you don't need a great deal of the flow they put out and are running it lower % anyway.

I have two 250s in my 5 feet tank. I have to dial it down to no more than20% or my softies will be all closed. I also have quite open rock work so that helped the flow.

I run 2 of them in my 75 gallon and at higher speeds it was causing sand storms. I had to aim them up, still playing with them to find what i want.

Still has me baffled. Had the 1 pump on OGC mode....everything great....then out of blue torch seems upset.
Too much flow....couldn't get max below 40%.
Noticed sand everywhere when I got home last night!
Changed to manual mode max at 20%.....going to try add 2nd pump today.
