Maxspect Gyre Question?

Hey,

So set up a new 10g and need more flow, I have an old Gyre laying around but its to big for the tank. My question is, can I take off one set of blades/cage and run it with only one or will that mess it up?

I believe they come with an end cap for that sort of operation.

I don’t think so. No end caps come with it.

Also, the load on each side would be significantly out of balance and I believe would damage the motor bearings in time.

My Maxspect XF-230 Gyre does come with an end cap as shown below:



The trick would be what to do about the magnet mount on the outside of the tank. You could either just attach it as is, or I guess you could saw the plastic in half so you only need one of the magnets on your tank.

Wow! I have 2, xf250 and I didn’t get end caps?

Not that I would use them but.........?

I bought two 230's and an additional pump only in case one was to go out and endcaps came with the two 230's and the additional pump I purchased.

Im thinking they may not come with the 2 larger sizes due to the amount of torque on the shaft if only 1 side is used......but that is just a guess.

I know my 2 xf250's did not come with end caps and they were both purchased new from MD, unopened boxes.
