Gentlemen - make no mistake about it, this is a corporate money grab via planned obsolescence. In 2021, I was looking to place two XF-230s back into service after being in storage for 18 months. My plan was stymied as the magnets in both units had ruptured, rendering the units inoperable. After contacting Maxspect/CoralVue customer service, my options were (1) send them in to Coralvue for repair ($160 each), or (2) buy replacement parts on eBay (appx. $120 each). Both options would entail spending close to the price of the units when originally purchased from BRS in 12/2016. Mind you that in 12/2017 the XF-230's controller unit was replaced under warranty as the LED screen no longer functioned. I was a massive CoralVue fanboy then and was even intending to visit their newly constructed headquarters in Lousiana. Then I saw how the Gyre models were always modified year after year and how none of the parts were interchangeable between models. What changes were being made in subsequent models? I don't see any? Still the same concept and design. Why exactly are the parts incompatible? By design, not due to necessity arising as a result of product improvement.
I won't give them a dime of money.
