I have a RSR 625XXL (5x2x2). It has two 280 gyres, mounted on either end. They work really well. I was wondering if it is possible to add a Tunze Wavebox, and have it work with the two gyres. Any opinions, or (better yet, experience) on if this would work?

Sounds kinda counter productive. I also think getting a wave going with 2 different manufacturers pumps would be difficult at least.
Be interested to hear if and how it worked though..

@cloggins did you ever have luck with this?
Yes. I am very happy I made the choice. I would do it again.

I purchased a Comline WaveBox 6208 from BRS, and added it to the tank. The Gyre pumps were set to do an alternating gyre on 30 minute cycles at 30% flow. The WaveBox is doing a 1-2" wave. It's been running like this for a couple months.

The WaveBox kicked up a lot of crud that was in the rocks. I was surprised at how much had accumulated in less than a year. There aren't many corals in the tank yet. What corals there are showed dramatic improvement in extension after the WaveBox was added.

At some point, I will try to capture a video, and add it to my build thread.

Awesome! I currently have a wave box and am considering switching my two Nero 5s to the new icecap 2k so I can mount them closer to the surface, my tank is pretty shallow and it’s hard to work with the neros because they aren’t very directional. Also I want to control them from apex and Nero can’t do that either. This is exactly what I was hoping to hear, thanks for the feedback!
