Do they really replace the amount of rock needed and do they leach anything after so long?

They look similar to the MarinePure Spheres. Folks generally like them, but at least for MarinePure, there has been some discussion relating to possible aluminum release.

The main reason also I was looking at them is their size. I’ve only got a Somatic 60S sump which I measured to have 8 gallons and will hold back siphon of another 2 gallons and real estate is a premium. I was thinking of getting these, dropping them behind my rocks in the bag of my sumpless tank to start curing them. So the cycle of my new tank won’t be as long. Does that sound feasible?
