Sorry... knew I'd forget some stuff. My tank is 24x24x24, 60g. I'm using the R420R 16k 160w. I'm using one unit. I asked Coralvue which model the recommended which was the 120w 20.5in. And so I went with the 27in 160w. I prefer a bit of overkill. I have the fixture suspended using the includes hanging kit. It's extraordinarily well designed and took me all of 10min to suspend. The stock legs are terrific looking but my tanking being 24in is too small for the legs. I've got it suspended 7in above the water surface. I've got around 50-60lbs of live rock. I've got 5 clowns, coral beauty, D.Goby, Red Scooter Dragonet, baby hippo, and a mandarin. Also I have a S.Haddoni carpet, polys, zoas, a maxima clam, acro, milli, shrooms, Stylophora, galaxia, misc polyps, and a shrimp. The entire tank has done terrifically! The clam sits exactly in the middle on a rock. He was on the sandbed but was moved to make space. He quickly planted his foot and has remained in that spot. I was using a halide pendant 250w radium at 20k. Because I went with the longer fixture shadowing is a total non issue. My tank was tested by ALABAMAREEF using an apogee meter. He tested the top, middle, and on the sandbed, those numbers were 600, 400, and 350. He was very impressed and said he'd never have believed a $500 unit would've been so strong. The numbers were better than the MH. I can't fathom going back. The controllability, the lower power bill, not having to place fans over the tank in the summer, the programability, the par numbers, the shimmer, and the overall beautiful aesthetics of the fixture itself... it's a beautifully designed/engineered piece of hardware that's as good anything out there and as a bonus it's a great price! The Radions are a great fixture, but while the features are cool, I just have no need to access my timed lights over the web.

what size is your tank? and which fixture or fixtures are you using? how many of them? how do you have your lights suspended. on the stock legs or hanging kit? how high off of the tank, how deep to the bottom of the tank? do you have sps, lps, soft corals, do you have any clams? are they on the sand bed or higher? what size halides were you using? what are your honest opinion on the comparison of the amount of light/par/lumens produced? and about the reported shadowing effect?
