Hello all! I need your advice on something please! I have two maxspect 230xf wave pumps. My sps and some of my lps have been doing bad for a while, and I’ve investigated just about everything. I noticed about a week ago that there was rust on the rubber slip cover for my wetside magnet on my wave pump. Could the rust be the cause of the corals doing bad?? I can’t find the wetside magnets anywhere and it doesn’t look like maxspect ships to the US. I did my best to seal it and covered the rusty spot liberally with superglue.

If ANYONE has a wetside magnet from an old maxspect, I would be eternally grateful if you would shoot me a pm! I don’t really have the funds to buy a replacement maxspect right now, so that’s not really an option.

I am running carbon in my tank right now. If the rust is affecting my corals, would the carbon help?

Carbon will not help youll need a poly filter or other metal removing media. And yes most def will effect corals. I would remove it if you think at all its still leaching.

Thank you! I’ll work on getting some poly filter
