Maxspect xf-230 or 250?

Hi, I have a 40 gallon bowfront tank and am planning on purchasing a maxspect gyre. I want to buy a maxspect xf-250 so that I could use it again if I decide to upgrade my tank in the future, but I'm unsure if the flow would be too strong for my mixed LPS + SPS tank even on low settings (xf-250 has recommended tank size of 50-800 gallons). Which pump do you guys think would be a better fit for my tank?

250 on my 180gallon at 30% moves A LOT of water. I think it’d be an overkill on a 40g.
