These things are loud. At 50% I hear a steady amount of buzzing. I'm pretty disappointed by the noise level so I'm hoping they will quiet down a bit as they break in. Has anyone seen that happen?

I remember thinking the same thing. Not sure if they got quieter or if I grew accustomed to them, or both, but they don't bother me any more, eight months into them now and I wouldn't trade them.

I can't hear mine at 70%.

Now that MP40 in another tank, it's the loudest thing in that system!

They seem to get quite with time. At least that’s what I thought. Then I took mine out for a soaking and cleaning. When I turned them back on I could hear them. However you get use to the sound, it’s not that bad. I run mine at 60%, on my 150 gallon tank.

They get louder over time based on my 18 month’s experience. I have owned three pairs in a time now I still have two pairs. They also need to be cleaned ever couple of month or the flow rate drops significantly.

Maybe I will get used to it. I can't hear over my HVAC, but when the room is quiet it's an annoying buzz. Powerheads are so frustrating. Some say vortechs are louder but at my LFS I couldn't hear their MP40 with my ear right up against it.
