Welcome to the Reef2Reef POTM Contest - Photo of the Month
Sponsored by Avast Marine!
This month’s subject: Algae
Deadline to Enter: May 31, 2018 at 11:59 pm (EST)
We have another new theme for this month to help celebrate our new Algae forum. Nearly all of us have some type of algae in our tank, so here's an opportunity to show it off!!! But remember, this is a photo contest and not just random shots of your latest algae bloom. :D

Prize: POTM Winner Banner, one year free Premium Membership and an Avast Marine Porthole courtesy of Avast Marine. Details below. (Note: Winners located outside the United States will be responsible for applicable shipping costs)

How To Enter:
Entering is easy, just a few simple guidelines to follow:
  • Enter one photo, taken by you of the subject for the month before the deadline
  • Multiple entries, off subject photos, or broken image links will be disqualified
  • Entries must be submitted before the deadline
  • Photo must be taken by you, whether in your tank or in the ocean
  • You must have an avatar uploaded when you enter
  • Prior winner (within the last 6 months) are welcome to enter, but not eligible for the prizes
  • In order to qualify to win the Avast Marine Porthole you must also like the Avast Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/avast.marine/
Winner Selection:
The mod team will select up to 15 finalists and a poll will be created and posted in the Reef Discussion Forum. The Grand Prize Winner will be determined by Reef2Reef member voting. To be eligible to vote, you must have been a member for 30 days and have 25 meaningful posts. Votes by members not meeting this criteria will be disregarded in the final count. In the case of a tie, the mod team will assist in choosing the winner. Rules, deadlines and terms are subject to change, without notice, at any time.

As this is a photography competition, and the goal is to recognize the highest quality picture. So take your time, do your post shot editing, and submit your best image.

Thanks to Avast Marine for sponsoring the R2R Photo of the month contest!!

I could take a nice photo of my GHA, but I don't think it is going to compete with the people who have fancy macro algae.

Oh go ahead and enter it....you never know!

This should be really interesting, can`t` wait to view more stunning photos. Unfortunately I don`t` think I have anything to shoot. May have to remove the GFO and hope something pops up before my little Tail spots and coral beauty munch it:) Just noticed in the rules, it can be in the ocean. Quick, where are my flippers and snorkel.:D

Diatoms vs beautiful macro algae.... hmm, I think I’ll sit this one out.

Ha , ha. @samnaz I actually love diatoms I find them fascinating. Maybe a good title for next months POTM competition. Now that would be great test of some micro photography. Maybe you should save some in a bottle:)

A little disappointed by the current, limited number of entries in this months comp. I was out on my afternoon walk along the beach here in North Yorkshire Coast with my dog Benji. I decided to take a photo to show some of the species of Macroalgae washed up on the shore. I know its not in a tank or in the actual ocean but hopefully it might give some inspiration for others to join the comp. Lets see those algae photos, I know from previous comps we have some amazing photographers on the forum. I would love to see your photos on the subject.

Tide pool @ Hospital Point in La Jolla, San Diego. The tide pools there were mind blowing... almost perfectly round (sandstone dug out by Chitons), each one different and full of life, like it's own little natural aquarium. Was really hard to pick one photo...
