Though I don't think purposely, since these came in a trade from a reputable member with support of the Mods. Perhaps he was duped from the guy he got them from. The rest of his frags were very nice. But let me know what you think. I was hoping they just needed to color up a bit, but they have been in my tank for about a month and haven't changed. First two pics are of what he sent me, and last pic is another frag that I have that I know are the real deal. So?

unless you paid an ungodly amount of money....no coral is ugly or not worth it. ok so instead of going to the coach store for a purse you went to the corner and got a knockoff. looks real feels real.....as far as anyone else is concerned...its real!!

you can see lack of green coloration on all of the inferior (lower) skirt tentacles -good sign.

the center is faded but i agree w/ those above -they look promising

I dont know, I have two different kinds of purple hornets. I have real ones from Gary and some cheapies I bought just to compare. I have had the cheap ones for around 2 months and while the color pattern is correct they are still very bland looking zoas and I doubt they will ever color up like the real ones. I guess only time will tell but I would say you and I have the same "not so purple hornets."

Hmm, well I am going to give them a few more weeks and see how they do. I'd hate to have to contact this guy and figure it out that way. I don't think he tried to deceive me, and may have bought them as PH before.
