Hey guys,
So I got this thing. Thought it was a ricordia but now I'm having second thoughts... to me it doesn't look like one. It has a mouth that is different from the other ricordias in my tank. I thought maybe it could be an anemone? Any suggestions on what it could be?
Thanks
-K

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought yumas had tentacles that leaded up and around the mouth? This guy doesn't have that

They usually do but I have seen my yumas look the same way from time to time. Mostly when they were new to the tank and the new light that they are in. They can retract them and look ''smooth''.

I just switched my yumas over to my main tank from my mushroom tank. (I'm breaking down my mushroom tank) they are now under stronger lighting and 2 of the 5 that I have are/were doing this. So lighting I think has a lot to do with it. I only had a reef bright XHO over my mushroom tank so the lighting is much brighter now.

That makes sense. The tank I got these from just had a fluval LED light over it. I have kessils over my tank so maybe that's what it is

It depends. I've had mushrooms move, which makes me laugh. It takes weeks and weeks, though. They pretty much move sideways or down on the rock.

Definitely not high light, but medium to low is usually fine. I have a Rhodactis mushroom that is slowly creeping off of its plug where I bought it and onto the live rock. My tank is only 10 gallons, so none of my shrooms seem to prefer the top. I do have one that broke loose from it's colony and it's about 4" from the LEDs, but it lays very flat and wide. I keep my lights at about 80%. I have the Current brand LEDs and they're great because there are different settings for light intensity.

Not sure all mushrooms creep, so I'd probably be inclined to put them near the bottom if I were you.

If you got it in with the ricordia floridas then it is most likely what they call a bubble mushroom from Florida. Its a species of Rhodactus but is usually sold as a ricordia instead of a rhodactus. Its a really cool mushroom that you don't see as often. The red ones are really cool if you can get your hands on one. Either way its definately a mushroom so no worries. From what I saw in your pics the stuff looked happy too! Anyways hope this is helpful.

Yeah that helps a lot. Thanks.. someone gave it to me that's how I got it. They said it wasn't doing well in their tank. All my Ricordias are on the bottom of my tank in the sandbed. He looks happy so far. It's only been 3 days.
