I asked this question a while back but didn’t have great pictures. I was just recently cleaning my equipment and when I put my pump back and turned it on some of this stuff went shooting out of my pump. Just want to know if this is a bad thing or something normal.

The stuff on the bottom of the chambers? Looks like sediment to me I have it as well. I’m guessing it’s fine sand
Particles or detritus material that settles.

I also think it’s detritus but I’m not 100 percent sure. I just don’t want any of it to hurt anything in my tank.

I lean more towards sand tbh. Just vacuum whatever you can out weekly. I use a eheim handheld vac and lower it slowly to avoid stirring it up.

Ok cool I’ll definitely look into that. Thanks a lot for your help.

The best investment you can make is a microscope. Even a cheap $10 toy one will do the job. You only need a 400x to do the job.
that’s smart never thought about I might have one around the house if not I’ll buy one this week.

This is definitely detritus at least at the bottom. The flow sometimes isn't as strong at the bottom so debris settle and form on top of each other. Very easy to clean with a siphon and harmless. Its quite natural to happen in low flow areas. Don't worry to much and for the surface that can be dust and other debris in the air suspending over your tank. Do you keep a lid over that area by the way???

No I don’t keep a lid over that. I made a custom lid but didn’t account for the back area and anyways my light is in the way of it being covered unless I modified it.

I believe that solves it haha but again there isn't anything to worry about.
