Maybe stylophora?

Hi all! New here.

I voiced interest in this coral to the guy at my LFS and he told me it was an "easy SPS" coral, which I know is a ridiculous term. I asked him what it was called and I THINK he said it's stylophora, but after looking up pictures I'm having doubts.
I got this coral solely because I like the way it looks. I'm new to saltwater and am kind of impulsive, which is know is a dangerous combo [emoji28] And now after inspecting this at home... The bottom looks kind of dead, doesn't it?

Can anyone ID this? Don't mind my sad, recovering hammer in the picture.

Sorry, I know the image quality is not the best. It was hard to get this in focus as the coral's placed in the back of an acrylic biocube.

Bottom definitely doesn't look good. My stylo colonies are white at the base, but thats bc they get no light; the colonies are massive. Could be a stylo, kinda looks like a birds nest. I'd worry more about your chemistry and stability than the exact type of coral. If it dies, it won't matter what it was.

I agree poccilopora. Some can be nice. Jf rainbow stylo is actually pocci. At least imo it sure is.

It's only been in my tank ONE day now. It was only ten bucks so I'm not too concerned. But it's kind of hard to place a coral that you don't know anything about, that's why I was trying to figure it out. Hopefully it'll be happier in my tank. Fingers crossed.

Doesn't look as bad as stated! Sometimes corals do that in the transition from one tank to another and it's usually short-lived!! The coral is pocillipora damicornis!
