Thinking of adding one to my 75. I have a clown, Melanurus, and a purple fire fish. See any issues with that?
My kole is pretty assertive in my 90 and likes to make sure my flame angel and banggai know who's boss, also chased my. clowns around for a few hours when he first went in and has a passing swipe at my mandarin very occasionally. May be a little much for a firefish to handle but I'll defer to others experience as its my first tang and I I've only had it a few months.

My Kole hides all day because of my brisletooth. He comes out at night and works

My lfs told me they would be ok together in a 125 but nope.

I should have done more research.

Still trying to catch the bristletooth

What bristletooth is it that he seem to have a problem with, white tail bristletooth tang?

My kole was one of my favorite fish, good eater, well behaved with the other tangs, and always working on the glass. One day he was just dead on the bottom after 2 years, it's still a mystery to me. I've heard this seems to be a common mystery with bristletooth tangs so I have stayed away since.

Thanks for the post, very interesting that your Kole hasn't touched any red or green nori, and neither has mine.

I think it's hit or miss on which fish a Kole decides to like or dislike, but I've read that many Kole tangs don't seem to want dried nori. Maybe one day, if I can find some, I'll try frozen nori and see if that's more appealing.

The only fish he was aggressive to was my flame angel who was added a month after him.

My flame angel was destined after quarantine to share the 180gal with the Kole tang, but after watching it's developing pushy behavior, I decided to leave my flame in the tank it's in. It seems happy where it is and I don't want to ruin what seems to be working :). Pick is of my flame zooming around my dentro coral. The flame sometimes tries to steal the food the coral is eating! LOL P.S. Sorry about the dirty tank glass. Water change and tank cleaning day is not until the weekend.

I have a flame, a kole and a yellow tang, among other fish, and I call them the 3 amigos as they are always near one another cruising around. They only fish they beat up on was a newly added blue tang, but that fizzled out after a while. Mostly the Kole & Flame were the aggressive ones to the blue tang.

Ours (Mable) gets along with everyone in the tank and keeps a tidy house.

Love those fatheads! I’m almost certain that a trio of those will be my next purchase for my tank. We’re they tough to get eating? Any tips?

I also love my Kole. Have had it a couple of years and keep it with a Scopas. It eats up all detritus and fish poop and IMO, it is the best CUC member you can get for a BB tank.

All three eat well and almost everything I put in. The shop I use keeps all fish for 3 weeks before selling to make sure they eat and have the best chance of survival once they go home. These spent more than 3 months before I finally pulled the trigger on them.

Has your carpet ate anyone? Soliciting opinions on if they’re worth the space or not, for some clowns
That’s just a huge leather coral

my yellow tang seems to boss my Kole around. And my Kole does go after Nori when i add it.

Beautiful reef... you should be very proud.

Curious who went into your reef first the yellow or the Kole, or were they added at the same time?

the yellow tang had been in the tank a couple months before i added the Kole. The Kole was so small when i got him i was afraid the yellow would kill him. Now they are about the same size.

The Purple Firefish would be the question. They are the most easily bullied fish in the marine trade. Mine was the number 1 target of any remotely aggressive fish that went in my tanks and since Tangs are semi-aggressive fish it could be an issue. The Melanurus and Clown are much more likely to stick up for themselves if the tang gets too big for it's britches, so to speak.
