So my McCoskers wrasse took a trip to my sump. My overflow is a 1.5" pipe that drops 3.5 feet down to a tee that is split between the skimmer chamber and fuge section. He took the path to the skimmer which has a y that splits to the dual sock holder.
He had been missing for a day, I hadn't been able to check the overflow yet, when I was done with a water change and had the stand doors open when I head a flop and splash. He had landed in a mesh sock.
In hindsight, I probably should have stuck him in the fuge, but since I already had him in the sock I just removed the sock and put him back in the display. He had what looked like a white film on the front of his body. I guess it's possible he was in the drain pipe while I was doing the water change and dried out a little?
He was staying at the water surface, immediately after putting him back, thought may swim bladder type problem, but was able to get away from me and swim down behind some rocks. He stayed hidden rest of the night.
Yesterday he came out late afternoon and stayed in the upper corner, took some food, but looks like he is using his pectoral fins more than normal. Looks like a hummingbird.
Today, much the same. Will eat, bit looks stressed. I think I have on seen him turn to the left when swimming, as well.
I am thinking spine or neuro injury from the trip down the pipes. But, would like some other opinions..
Will attach video shortly.

He was in a filter sock for three weeks, which tells you how long I go in-between changing them.

of course that's when this would happen.
