I am up late again reading articles on stupid thing, I recently came upon this article and thouht that I would share it.

LiveAquaria and ORA partnered up to produce more Mcculochi clownfish

LA and ORA seem to have combined their skills to produce more of these, I assume that Kevin was having issues raising all of the fry to adult hood, so they shipped the extra batches to ORA where they could produce the batches and have room to properly raise those that LA couldn't.

For those of you who don't remember the story behind LA and these fish, here is their article.

Captive breeding of the rare McCulloch's Clownfish (Amphiprion mccullochi) Updates & Blog

To my understanding LA was the first to have a captive breeding pair in the US. Meaning good for us consumers!

For those who know nothing about these fish, here's a nice article about them.

The Mccullochi Clownfish Story | Facebook

Looks like I will be able to afford a pair of these fish possibly. I just need to set my tank back up...

Enjoy the read...

Did you get the first one?

Im honestly debating breaking down and buying one, I can get some from a friend, but he ask alot for them. I really would like to get a breeding pair.

If your interested in a breeding pair, send me a PM, I might be able to help you out. I know where a pair is. And please, people, do not PM me wanting to know unless your serious about these fish.

I live near rhinelader and have seen many of Kevins baby McCullochi clowns, they are very cute lill guys. Dont like them much when they grow up cuz they are huge like big tomato clowns.

Def a sight to see the breeding pairs and babys everywhere though.

Will Kevin allow people to come into the facility with maybe a little extra cash and buy a pair of these guys? Or is that out of the question?

That fish is very nice up on DD currently!

If I only had the $400 bucks! :xd:

When was the last time one was available?................Watching out for a pair.

Last time I looked (3 days ago) they still had one. They are posting them regularly, keep a eye out. Or contact your LFS and have them order you in two and tell them that you can get them for this price at DFS and what can they do on that. I know the wholesale price on them, and there is alot of room to work.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on DD. I'll also see what my LFS can do. That would work out nice because I supply them with picasso and platinums, sometimes just for store credit. I would love to "trade" for a McCullochi pair.

hi how much do McCullochi Clownfish go for?are they really 400?do they still have any left?wht is the name of the place called...

Ho does anyone keep McCullochi Clowns now. I am thinking of buying some but I hear they are cold water despite sellers claim of 77-78 degrees. My LFS suggested I do NOT get them as my current set up, 120 gal divided into 3 sections for clown pairs w/ T-5s, 80 gal rimless housing chalice coral and a mate pair of Marine Betta w/ Reefbrite LEDs and a 60 gal rimless housing remaining corals and a spawning harem of 5 Flame Angels. Water is kept at 78ish.
Thanks in advance
