yeah thats what I was thinking! I wanted to share it with everyone here so I could hear about it If we had our second tank already set up, I probably would have considered making a home for him. I think it is wonderful that ORA is breeding this rare fish. It would be nice if more could be released into the wild as well

I remember reading all that stuff back when i first heard of them and i never saw any on there. Awesome they popped up again. Hard to keep a decent flow of new fish since they cant harvest new fish to breed with.

Exactly. It sounds like ORA and LiveAquaria/Dr. Foster and Smith have done a good job keeping breeding going though. A few years ago, they were one of only two places nationally able to get them to spawn. They also did such a great job keeping records on it:

I searched on youtube and I couldn't believe how few videos there were! Back in 2009, LiveAquaria was charging $6k for a PAIR! It makes me wonder why they are so inexpensive? I'm just glad they have popped up again, too. I'm also happy to see how willing they are to share their documentation of spawning and rearing the hatchlings. It will be great to see more in the future!

I have 2 that have paired now they are maybe 9 months old. The female is loosing her juvi stripe and both have their own BTA.
I hope to see them spawn.
