"Nemo" is supposed to be a good fish
"Nemo" is supposed to be a nice, caring & loving fish
"Every tank needs a "nemo", a clown fish"
My answer to those false facts?
HA!
Clown Fish are mean!
"If not for my grandkids who love "Nemo", and yes, even my own "a reef tank is not a reef without "cute little nemos", these two mean fish would be so gone.
Today I got 2 good size bites to the back of my hand. Last one I had got infected because I didn't they'd broken skin. Took me a couple days to realize that "cut" was a dang bite. Neosporin and bandages on this time.
I cannot put my hands in the tank without being attacked! Without blood drawn.... UGH And not just in the middle where the pair are. ANYWHERE IN THE TANK I get attacked. They are not afraid of the turkey baster, the tongs, the tweezers. I have to keep a fish net against the back of my hand, and even then, them monsters go around, and the net disrupts too much
Yes, I have those icky arm gloves but they are a pain to put on as the inside is ripping and the water goes right down inside. Fine for major tank work but when I want to just deal with some algae etc. they are too much work.
Maybe I'll see if I can devise an egg crate wall I can put in yet I don't want the flow to cause it to hit corals.
Gardening gloves? New ones? Maybe those would work. Maybe cut sleeves off a shirt for arms?
Or net the fish and put in a small qt box when I'm working or when I get my observation tank set up, maybe they'll go live there with the new fish! UGH
what do you do with aggressive clowns
