I'm getting a 0 measurement before adding to my new tank, but when I add the water to my tank, without salt, my ppm jumped to 8 when I test inside the tank. I have crushed coral. Is that normal? I haven't read about measuring TDS after adding water so just curious.

Just leave RO/DI uncovered in a bucket for a few days, you'll b in the hundreds. lol

RO/DI is like a sponge, it will pick up anything floating in the air which increases TDS.
