Hi there!

As my Flameback angel continues to have stringy white feces after two rounds of liquid Praziquantel (dosed to water column per instructions), I am wondering if he is not suffering from worms but parasites..

As I live in the Netherlands and Metro is unavailable here due to regulations, I have been researching alternatives.

If I understand HumbleFish's thread correctly, Mebendazole can be used as an alternative?
It's available over the counter here as human medication, would I dose it the same as Metro when food soaking?

Am I right that Febendazole is more an alternative to Prazi than Metro?
I am unsure whether I should go the parasite or praziresistant strain route, seeing as how the symptoms are the same.

The only fish-specific medication for hexamita etc. around is freshwater only, I take it this is not effective for marine fish?

Thanks in advance, I am quite exasperated after scouring the web for hours on end.

Any help is greatly appreciated

As the fish eating? If so - I would not use anti flagellate medication. Mebendazole is not an alternative to Metro - instead you should use Metronidazole - the content of Metro. Flagyl is another effective human medicine for flagellate infection in fish. Because you living in Europe - Waterlife Octozin can be used.

But its the fish eating - IMO - there is no infection that need to be treated with this type of drugs.

Sincerely Lasse
