Hey guys:

I'm wondering if there are issues with mounting a media reactor (like the aquamaxx or BRS) on the side of a stand and running tubing up to the tank. I don't have a sump and would like to mount it behind the stand.

Will this pose any issues/concerns?

I have three (3) BRS reactors— two mini singles and a standard double— and have all 3 outside the tank. I find them to be leak-free, which makes this possible. The “however” is, as you see from the photo of one of them, I have them laying on the stand, not screwed in to anything. This is because I fear the amount of torque (using the plastic wrench) needed to tighten, and especially untighten the unit, would tend to rip the top of the unit out of it’s wooden position— or worse yet— break the top plastic. Pretty much you need to be able to grab the unit with two hands and ‘twist,’ without worrying about the weight and torque. Other people may feel comfortable screwing theirs into their stand, but I don’t. Hope this helps!

Hmm that's something to think about. Thank you!
