Media reactor

Hey everyone,

I have a 75 gallon tank running on a canister filter. I am upgrading to a 300 gallon switching to a year (at tax time). I was wondering if a set up a gfo, carbon, and media reactor for my microbacter lattuce cubes, could I then remove the canister filter completely?

With no other mechanical filtration. I would not remove it as detritus will build up.
