Media Reactor

I'm just getting started and I have begun to plan out my tank. I already own a 75gal that I used to keep rays in. Now I am going to try hand a something a bit more challenging. While looking at different equipment I came across media reactors. Do I really need one if I'm using a skimmer and a refugium???

Media reactors can hold a lot of different media to cover a wide range of needs.
You dont need one if water changes can keep your tank in line.
