Starting a biocube LED 32. Already have the intank add ons for media trays and refugium. I will use a floss on top. The bottom 2 I don't know. I was thinking pure blue and small bio balls both in mesh. But have heard bio and refugium shouldn't go together. Suggestions? best practices? for insight, 1st reef tank, but have a healthy 40 and 120 FOWLRs.

I use seachem matrix in my sump. It is cheap at petco online, just rinse and check it first. I have it in a media cup with floss on the top to get the big stuff. I'm pretty new to reef tanks so there may be better advice out there.

Matrix really is great for a bio media. The downfall is the price. I mix matrix with eheim glass in my freshwater set up. In saltwater you can just use crushed rock mixed with crushed coral to achieve the same results at a lower price point.
