Medicated QT for a Mandarinfish

I plan on getting a blue mandarin fish at some point in the future, so what’s the best way to do a medicated qt? I hear they’re sensitive to copper. Also, will the copepods live in the medications? TIA

This is a tough species to quarantine. They handle coppersafe o.k., but they don't do well in bare quarantine tanks. Copepods will live (but not thrive) in coppersafe at lower levels (2 ppm or so).

My favorite methods to handle these fish is in two ways:

1) Buy a tank raised one, right from the breeder and add them right into your DT.
2) With wild caught ones, I'll add them to a coral tray (with no fish) for 30 days, just to watch for issues, and then add them to the DT.

Would you do that from The Biota Group for other species as well?

they do well with ttm and you can dose pods, baby brine shrimp whilst performing that

i also have had good success using chloroquine in a sterile qt

The problem is that TTM really only works against ich/Cryptocaryon. Chloroq8uinbe is an option at 12 ppm, but is difficult to source.

Direct from Biota is good. You need to be careful because some of their fish are small and require species feeding until they grow up a bit.

i use formalin baths in-between transfers to take care of most other parasites/worms

peroxide seems better tolerated by dragonets but less effective

or just doing transfers every 24 hours seems to at least eliminate velvet as well
